Vision coverage

Blue Shield's vision plans are a smart choice to complement your clients' medical coverage. Regular eye exams can lead to earlier treatment and better health outcomes.

Blue Shield’s vision plans* offer your clients access to the largest vision nework in California, with more than 12,000 providers throughout the state. This includes major retail chains such as Costco (warehouse, membership required), Walmart (wholesale), LensCrafters, Sam's Club, Target Optical, as well as independent eye care providers. Members even have the choice of using non-network vision providers for some services, but they will pay more out of pocket.

Members can purchase their contact lenses online with no claim forms or paperwork at comparable – and in many cases – lower costs than major online lens retailers. 

And remember, all of our medical plans cover pediatric dental and vision benefits for children up to age 19. This includes preventive care and routine services that play a valuable role in supporting the overall health of a child.

All of our vision plans are available for purchase with or without a medical plan and are priced for value and affordability. 

Vision plans are only available for purchase directly through Blue Shield - they are not available through Covered California. There is no waiting period required for Vision plans.

Our vision plan rates are increasing an average of 14% for 2026. This only raises the rate of our most popular plan (Ultimate Vision 15/25/120) by $1 per month, so your clients can still get a Blue Shield vision plan for as low as $7.90 per month.
