Medicare Supplement plans

Thank you for your help in keeping Blue Shield of California #1 by market share for individual Medicare Supplement plans in California.

We offer a streamlined portfolio of Medicare Supplement products. They range from our basic Plan A, through our mid-range Plan N and Plan G, to our most extensive plans, Plan F Extra¹ and Plan G Extra. These plans help your clients get the benefits and price points they want, along with the extra services and support they need.

Our Medicare Supplement plans enhance Original Medicare and give your clients the freedom to choose any doctor who accepts Medicare. Our Medicare Supplement plans are designed to include affordable monthly rates, basic gym access at no additional cost through SilverSneakers®, and several savings opportunities² that can help keep monthly plan rates even more affordable for your clients. Plus, Blue Shield of California Medicare Supplement plans have a 12-month rate guarantee.³

Please note, Plan F Extra and Plan G Extra do not have a high-deductible option.

Your clients will have to purchase a separate Medicare prescription drug plan for Part D coverage.

¹ Plan F Extra is available only to applicants who attained age 65 before January 1, 2020, or first become eligible for Medicare benefits due to disability before January 1, 2020.
² Savings due to increased efficiencies from administering Medicare Supplement plans under this service pass on to the member.
³ Rates are guaranteed for the first 12 months of coverage assuming no change in Medicare Supplement plan or residence. Guaranteed rates are also subject to age band rate increases, which take effect each year on
July 1.
 

Medicare Advantage HMO Plans (MA-PD) and HMO D-SNP Plans

Blue Shield of California contracts with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to offer Medicare Advantage and Duals Special Needs Plans (D-SNP) that cover the same basic benefits as Original Medicare and include Part D prescription drug coverage.

Blue Shield of California offers a comprehensive Medicare Advantage portfolio from traditional Medicare Advantage HMO plans to an HMO D-SNP plan.

Our Medicare Advantage portfolio includes:

• Our HMO D-SNP plan is an exclusively aligned enrollment plan (EAE) in Los Angeles and San Diego. Offering comprehensive medical and supplemental benefits along with a broad provider network to address all needs of individuals that are Medi-Cal participants.
